This might be worth a read if you're using a Linksys router

Basically, there's malware (a worm) that affects certain Linksys routers. It spreads only from router to router, so it's irrelevant what computer or antivirus software you ight be using on your computer!
Notes there from Linksys as to how to disable remote access etc, and about formware updates coming soon.

So the entry point is remote management. Another very good reason to disable this "feature" on any router which includes it.
