Sounds asian but I could be wrong. It could also be a pirate station couldn't it? Report it to the authorities and get it shut down.

Its a hard one this, as there can be thousands of transmitters per country it's deffo not an easy google search, first we need to understand what there saying this gives us a clue to what country they may be targeting and if not then the transmission is coming from the country of origin, then a google search can be carried out for a frequency search on that country.

A local pirate station probably isn't listed on the internet ;) Have you had a walk around looking out for a transmiter aerial, or is it clear this transmission isn't coming from anywhere close by?

Perhaps a spot of amateur direction-finding will show whether the transmission originates locally or from further afield?  :-\

I know it's coming in at 74 degress in the direction of lithuania, if it were local that station would be audible with a signal 24/7 and it's not, the signal starts to become stronger in the evenings that points to Ionosphere Radio propagation it's not a bloody local Radio Station in Northern Ireland

I hope this is not totally irrelevant, but what is that 74 degrees based on; true, magnetic, or grid? All differ and also all change according to location.

I'll suggest that you make some investigations into Radio Romania:-\

Here is a link to a forum thread that makes reference to 7377 kHz.

Fair enough, I know nothing about radio but pirate hadn't been mentioned so just thought I'd sudgest it. I have read about the Ionosphere and it's effects on radio signals long ago but it had sliped my mind untill you mentioned it  :-[

Good luck.

Cheers BC listening to 7350 KHz as I type and it's in english and it's China Radio International, the one I recorded was at 7410 KHz, theres so many Radio Stations in the region from 7190 to 7420 Khz its no wonder these tones are blank in the evening and they come back during the daytime.

China Radio International thats some distance from me 4100 miles  :o

7350 kHz ~= tone 1704
7410 kHz ~= tone 1718

Well I have had to back off the sync rate SNRM going below 4.9dB @ 30000 kbps this evening now at 28000 kbps with SNRM of 6.3dB, I have done all I can do here to lessen the RFI at my end without success, it's now in the hands of partical physics.

at least I know what is causing the tones to disappear in the evenigs and it may get better as the daylight hours start to stretch in summer time, so if your SNRM drops and you see big chunks missing in your tones during the evenings its all down to Mr Ionosphere  >:(

and many thanks for the all help given by Members  :)
