VDSL uses PTM which the modem is set up to use by default.

ADSL uses ATM which you have to configure the modem to use.

I don't believe that's necessary if the HG612 is used with default bridged mode settings with a router attached.

These are the default settings (all flavours ADSL enabled apart from AnnexM):-

Code: [Select]

xdslcmd profile --show

Modulations:
G.Dmt Enabled
G.lite Enabled
T1.413 Enabled
ADSL2 Enabled
AnnexL Enabled
ADSL2+ Enabled
AnnexM Disabled
VDSL2 Enabled
Phone line pair:
Inner pair
Capability:
bitswap On
sra On
trellis On
sesdrop Off
CoMinMgn Off
24k On
phyReXmt(Us/Ds) Off/On
TpsTc AvPvAa
monitorTone: On
dynamicD: On
dynamicF: Off
SOS: On
Training Margin(Q4 in dB): -1(DEFAULT)

I think some of the Capability settings are automatically changed slightly when the modem is used for ADSL connections.

The modem's default IP Address is 192.168.1.1 & admin is used for both Username & password.

Windows users should be able to use the 'arp -a' command in a command window to see what is connected.

e.g:-

C:\Users\Paul>arp -a

Interface: 192.168.1.100 --- 0xa
  Internet Address      Physical Address      Type
  192.168.1.1           5c-7d-5e-ee-cc-63     dynamic
  192.168.1.3           00-01-e6-8f-90-a1     dynamic
  192.168.1.6           bc-f2-af-97-b9-ed     dynamic
  192.168.1.254         e0-91-f5-f8-57-88     dynamic
  192.168.1.255         ff-ff-ff-ff-ff-ff     static
  224.0.0.22            01-00-5e-00-00-16     static
  224.0.0.252           01-00-5e-00-00-fc     static
  239.255.255.250       01-00-5e-7f-ff-fa     static

Ok, so I'm back and I've managed to telnet into my huawei through my asus router and here's what I found:

Code: [Select]

# xdslcmd profile --show

Modulations:
G.Dmt Enabled
G.lite Enabled
T1.413 Enabled
ADSL2 Enabled
AnnexL Enabled
ADSL2+ Enabled
AnnexM Disabled
VDSL2 Enabled
VDSL2 profiles:
8a Enabled
8b Enabled
8c Enabled
8d Enabled
12a Enabled
12b Enabled
17a Enabled
30a Enabled
US0 Enabled
Phone line pair:
Inner pair
Capability:
bitswap On
sra Off
trellis On
sesdrop Off
CoMinMgn Off
24k On
phyReXmt(Us/Ds) Off/On
TpsTc AvPvAa
monitorTone: On
dynamicD: On
dynamicF: On
SOS: On
Training Margin(Q4 in dB): -1(DEFAULT)
# arp -a
? (192.168.1.146) at XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX [ether] on br0
? (192.168.1.254) at XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX [ether] on br0
#

So mine look the same as yours, other than my sra capability being off, I'll see if I can get that on... (the X's were put in by me, those were two healthy looking MAC addresses...) DHCP server is off, uPnP is off too although I don't know if that should be on on my modem... Firewall is off but I haven't altered NAT or QoS settings as I don't know what I'm doing there..

Attached are a few pics of some of my settings in my modem, just in case anything stands out as wrong...

Don't know if it makes much difference but i turn off all the modulation types except for VDSL2 as this is what is being used on this line.

Code: [Select]
        ADSL2   Disabled
        AnnexL  Disabled
        ADSL2+  Disabled
        AnnexM  Disabled
        VDSL2   Enabled
VDSL2 profiles:
        8a      Enabled
        8b      Enabled
        8c      Enabled
        8d      Enabled
        12a     Enabled
        12b     Enabled
        17a     Enabled
        30a     Enabled
        US0     Enabled
Phone line pair:
        Inner pair
Capability:
        bitswap         On
        sra             On
        trellis         On
        sesdrop         Off
        CoMinMgn        Off
        24k             On
        phyReXmt(Us/Ds) Off/On
        TpsTc           AvPvAa
        monitorTone:    On
        dynamicD:       On
        dynamicF:       Off
        SOS:            On

Hmm I did try that- although it would never have worked as I've got until the 9th until they switch me to fibre...

Ok, so I'm back again....

I've been switched over to fibre, and tried hooking up my set up ( HG612 3B and RT-AC66U)

But unfortunately it just doesn't seem to work. In the log the ASUS does say:

Jan  1 00:00:20 WAN Connection: ISP's DHCP did not function properly.

I left it for about an hour, then tried changing my password so that it didn't have ' ' around it, but to no avail... I've also got my HG612 on vDSL2 only, and it recognises my line capabilities as well as the fact that I have a connection, but I cannot connect to the internet if I use the ethernet port..

Any advice?

Looks like you have configured the modem as a router instead of a bridge.

As the modem is by default a VDSL bridge, a factory reset is a quick fix but will leave it locked, so you will have to unlock it again.

Just did a factory reset and again followed the instructions to unlock the device- it still says route rather than bridge though?

Hmm no- instructions I followed said press the button, turn it on and hold for 5 seconds and then you're able to log in and it will instruct you to install new firmware. Will try with a 20sec reset

Ok, have done the long reset and the settings have been reset to factory- it hasn't wiped the firmware either (still the hacked fw). I'll let you know how I get on...

Ok- worked! Once I'd taken out the apostrophes from the username/password combo it worked perfectly. The factory reset (which has indeed changed my PTM1.101 settings to bridged etc.) must have been crucial too. Thank you everybody for your help!
