That is an interesting observation. But I can not rationalise the behaviour.

So the image you currently have installed is the latest to originate from the Beattie Group, having been subsequently unlocked by Wolfy. That is the image which lacks the GUI.

If you would like to use the GUI, then the " . . . B030SP06_Wolfy_Unlocked_GUI" image would be appropriate.

I'll bet a fiver that the bcm96368MVWG_fs_kernel_HG612V100R001C01B028SP10_Asbo_Unlocked
file can2002 downloaded was somehow corrupt, that would make sense  ;)

Hiya,

I'd completely agree if the MD5 checksum didn't match, but it did.  I guess it could have corrupted during the upload to the modem (during the firmware installation process), but this would imply that the B028SP10 firmware had corrupted every time I uploaded it to the modem (I must be at a count now of 10-15 times)...

Thanks for the tip regarding B030SP06_Wolfy_Unlocked_GUI burakkucat, I shall give that a try.  Is there a reason not to use the one with the BT agent disabled (as opposed to just scripting a process kill)?

Cheers,
Chris

Hiya,

I uploaded it to the modem (I must be at a count now of 10-15 times)...

In that case i've lost a fiver : :)
It's an interesting case you have raised as I have flashed the HG612 V3B with the same firmware Asbos B028SP10unlocked002 (063d193e5e579075f1d53947ff46bfa3) quite a fews times last year, makes we wonder if the older firmware is now being blocked at the FTTC cab in some areas though I very much doubt it but you never know with OpenReach  ::)

At least you have it working with B030SP06 that's the main thing.

I take bitcoin too! ;)

I'm just flashing the gui variant as I type.

One last question, does anyone know if the BT Agent does anything more than update the firmware?  I'd rather control the application of firmware updates myself, but I wondered if it might also be involved in negotiating rates, etc?  I'm a bit of a newbie when it comes to FTTC as you can probably tell!

Cheers,
Chris

The action of the BTAgent is not fully understood.  :(

Beattie has not released any specification or description for her busy-body's action (a.k.a. the little snitch). As of yet, it has not been fully decompiled or reverse-engineered.

Thanks - I'll stick with the version that has it and then manually kill it for the moment!
