Oh dear. What poor reporting. I hope that Zen have been misinterpreted . . .

Granted, there can be sources of RFI but the radio frequency spectrum is used by licensed entities (of which ADSL/ADSL2/ADSL2+/VDSL2 is not!)

Very true - but compared with ADSL,  RFI isn't even a legitimate use.

If some reduction results it will be beneficial, although I'm not too hopefull, too many people think electricity is just like plumbing !

  ;)

The number of cases that I have seen where an EU has (erroneously) complained bitterly about the BBC's Radio 4 long wave transmitter (198 kHz) "splatting" their xDSL service is rather sad. As far as the xDSL service user is concerned, that transmitter is "causing" RFI.   D'oh!

No wonder they are still using old Valves

"So antique is the transmission equipment that the BBC does not believe it is possible to manufacture new valves because slightly faulty replacements could cause a catastrophic failure of the other parts of the transmitter. Whenever the valves fail a dangerous "arc of power" surges through the 700ft Droitwich transmission masts."

????? I believe the BBC sacked all it's engineers so what do you expect from beancounters - accuracy ?  Valves tend to fail as power output reduces

They even make the task of counting five beans onerous. How may make five? Not five but "a bean a bean a bean and a half half a bean and a bean". Who wants half beans? ::)

Ummm then don't buy faulty ones?

You can get any valve ever made manufactured to order - gods know I've done it enough for obsolete MoD kit - but you have to pay for the tooling which can cost up to £100k or so.

The BBC spent all their our money on garbage at "Media City" so what they really mean is that they're not willing to spend money on "unfashionable" stuff like keeping radio working. Plenty keen enough on the DAB nonsense though - even to the extent of ensuring that DAB in the UK isn't compatible with anywhere else in the world (DAB+ etc).

Interesting though this is, this is ONE source of narrowband interference in ONE area. There are many others, most of them unsupressed non-electronic gadgets, including flashing Christmas Tree lights !
