It didn't drop. You got disconnected due to the interleave order placed by Plusnet.

Did you reboot the router to connect?

Sorry  :-[  Didn't realise the interleaving would have caused it.

No, I didn't reboot. I just connected againt via the connect screen (as I always do).

As per the stats this morning is the change made by the DMT tool still in place?

Thanks

If you didn't reboot then the change should still be in place. If the margin rises to about 8.5dB by midday or so then that's roughly what I'd have expected.

When you get a chance would you post a screenie of the DMT tool again to see what it believes your maximum rates to be?

It won't be until this evening as I'm now in work. Will hopefully get a screenshot posted after 5pm.

Thanks

Hi

Went to my router admin page 20 mins ago to get line stats and must have loaded it a few seconds after the my connection dropped. The connection page said Not ready to connect to broadband... Training. I left it a few seconds and went in again and it was ready to connect. The disconnect took place at about 5.55pm which is near enough the same time as it disconnected yesterday (give or take 5/10 minutes). All very confusing!

Line stats as at 6.15 are below:

Line Mode G.DMT   Line State Show Time
Latency Type Interleave   Line Up Time 00:00:22:41
Line Coding Trellis On   Line Up Count 37

 Statistics Downstream Upstream
Line Rate 4800 Kbps 448 Kbps
Noise Margin 7.6 dB 21.0 dB
Line Attenuation 50.0 dB 30.5 dB
Output Power 19.6 dBm 12.1 dBm
K (number of bytes in DMT frame) 151 15
R (number of check bytes in RS code word) 16 16
S (RS code word size in DMT frame) 1 8
 D (interleaver depth) 32 4
 Super Frames 80042  80040
 Super Frame Errors 3  0
 RS Words 5442862  680340
 RS Correctable Errors 2902  0
 RS Uncorrectable Errors 61  0
 HEC Errors 4  0
 OCD Errors 0  0
 LCD Errors 0  0
 ES Errors 0  0

I was pretty sure interleaving wouldn't help however we have a bit of leeway to play with but we best get it done fast before DLM finally kicks in and bumps it up to 9dB.

We don't want the sync speed to go below 4544 or your IP profile will drop to 3500, but the "extra" 300kbps or so that you're above that is doing no good anyway as your profile is 4000, so.....

Can you go back into the DMT tool and just move the noisemargin slider just one notch up, then resync and report your connection speed and margin. This is a good time to do this as we're more or less at the noisiest time of the day.

Sorry to resurrect this thread after such a long time, but just to report things have settled somewhat with disconnects taking place roughly once a week. However I have noticed that disconnects sometimes coincide with making / receiving phone calls. For instance, 15 minutes ago I received a phone call while working at the PC, and immediately noticed the connection had gone down. I reconnected during the call and my current stats are as follows:

Line Mode G.DMT   Line State Show Time
Latency Type Interleave   Line Up Time 00:03:05:54
Line Coding Trellis On   Line Up Count 50

 Statistics Downstream Upstream
Line Rate 5568 Kbps 448 Kbps
Noise Margin 5.9 dB 22.0 dB
Line Attenuation 50.0 dB 30.5 dB
Output Power 19.6 dBm 12.1 dBm
K (number of bytes in DMT frame) 175 15
R (number of check bytes in RS code word) 16 16
S (RS code word size in DMT frame) 1 8
 D (interleaver depth) 32 4
 Super Frames 656101  656099
 Super Frame Errors 265  0
 RS Words 44614912  5576841
 RS Correctable Errors 372902  0
 RS Uncorrectable Errors 2617  0
 HEC Errors 239  0
 OCD Errors 3  0
 LCD Errors 0  0
 ES Errors 0  0

The rate of 5568 is the highest I've had for sometime. Just wondering what would cause the connection to drop during a phone call.

Thanks

There are two possibilities - either an ADSL filter which isn't as good as it might be, or a poor connection somewhere, either in your internal wiring or in the BT line. The easy thing to check is to change the filters.
