DSLstats v3.95 test version with HG612 compatability
« on: September 05, 2013, 03:35:03 PM »

Admin note - This topic has been split from HG612 modem stats - multiple instances.

I've uploaded a version of DSLstats (Windows only) which incorporates the changes discussed. The option "Synchronise with HG612-Modem-Stats" has been moved to the Misc configuration section and renamed "HG612-Modem-Stats co-operation". When enabled, it does the following:

- sets the sample repetition time to 60 seconds
- delays the start of recording as necessary so it starts between 35 and 40 seconds after the minute (during this delay, the word "Synchronising" is displayed in red at the top)
- checks before each sample to see if either of the HG612-Modem-Stats programs is running. If one is, the sample is aborted, and an entry is made in the event log, saying how many instances were detected.

Ronski's program IsRunningVB.exe is packaged with the program (thanks, Ronski), and needs to be in the same directory as the DSLstats executable.

[Edit] Correction - through an oversight I didn't actually package IsRunningVB.exe with this download. It's located in the Apps subdir of HG612_Modem_Stats.

Did anyone try this version of DSLstats to see if it works as intended?

[Correction] No, I had overlooked it and was still running v3.94, but manually starting it at 35s past.  In that mode there have been no co-existence issues for me.

I shall now try v3.95 immediately with your sync option and let you know asap.  Thanks for giving us all a nudge. :)

Thanks for letting me know. By the way, this trial version also includes the option to vary the horizontal resolution of the bitswaps per tone chart, which you asked for a little while ago.

Tones per pixel, at the bottom. It could be better named I guess. :)

Sorry, I thought that was like the 1/2/3 pixels per tone on the bitloading graph which zooms in and I need to untick the "expanded view" box to see everything.

-----

Not sure if Ive done something wrong but unfortunately adjusting 'tones per pixel' desnt seem to work and It bunches exactly the same info that you see in the above cap over to the left and shows nothing above tone 830.

eg . 2 tones per pixel = shows 0-1650 along the x axis, but the graph stops and doesnt display anything above 830
It looks like it would need 7 tones per pixel to display the full range of tones for vdsl2 lines, but when I do that, it still only shows data up to tone 830.

PS Ive split this topic off from  HG612 modem stats - multiple instances.
Firstly since it may have been overlooked in that thread, and secondly because the conversation has now deviated to DSLstats specific posts. :)

You haven't done anything wrong, but it looks as though I have. I'll sort it out before the next release.

Thank you.

In the meantime Ive changed the tones per pixel to 5 which should show most of the data and also reset the graph to see if that makes any difference.  But theres nothing to show yet.
