Useful Email advice. > Catchall<
« on: August 30, 2013, 11:57:35 AM »

I have a 'Sub Domain' set up from my ISP (free)  and I have various email address's on that domain.

I was on the ISP's website and found some information about a 'Catch All' email address

eg my normal emails would be :-

myemail@myispsubdomain.co.uk     etc   etc.

So a catch all would be :-

catchall@myispsubdomain.co.uk

So what this does if anyone sends me an email and and its spelt wrong eg  myemails@myispsubdomain.co.uk
or     info@myispsubdomain.co.uk
or     office@myispsubdomain.co.uk
It would go into the 'catch-all' and be sent to the email address you set it up to go to.

Another use would be sometimes you need a 'Throw away' email address so instead of going to say Gmail you could use anything before the @ sign .
eg
I tried   abc123@myispsubdomain.co.uk
and in a short time it came into the email address I set the 'Catch All' to go.

Hope you understand that  :) and may be of use  ;)  .

I do..  and yes catchalls are brilliant.. and make it easy to detect where spam originates from.

Unfortunately I dont think that many ISPs now offer this service, but a lot of webhosts do :)
