Missing from Facebook
« on: June 21, 2013, 04:25:20 PM »

As Internet Explorer has become so slow and crashes often I changed my default browser to Chrome, much better all round.

However, when I open FB home page the column on the Left where the links for 'Friends Request, Messages and Notifications should appear I have a blank column, the three links are there at the top, but below that it is empty, I chose to block an ad from there months ago and that caused it I think, is there a way to restore this please?

Regards,

Pestering Pete

I use Social Fixer for Facebook.
http://socialfixer.com/

I can highly recommend it as it lets you see what you want to see on Facebook and allows you to choose what to display,
I love how it lets you filter the feeds;-  so no more game posts for Farmville etc if you dont want to see them, or you can switch to tabs if you do.

It has an enhanced left column navigation feature, so with a bit of tweaking you may be able to get back what was lost.

A friend using Internet Explorer 10 on Windows 7 was reporting a similar problem, hasn't worked for at least a week now.

However, logging in to Facebook using Chrome instead has fixed the problem in this case!  ???

Now Im on the PC, Ive just had a look to see what settings there are:-

Try the following

Log in to your account and then from this page
https://www.facebook.com/bookmarks/apps

Go down to 'Messages' and just to the left of that click the little pencil icon and select 'Add to favourites'.
Repeat for Events or whatever else you wish to add.

This should then add them to the top of the LH panel.
Anything in that panel that you dont want can be easily removed by hovering over the item until the pencil icon appears.
It also allows you to rearrange the order of the items by hovering and selecting the pencil icon.

Hope this helps

Peter :

My friend had the opposite problem to you - Facebook wasn't displaying properly in IE10, so they switched to Chrome and it worked fine - they didn't have to do anything else.

I don't use Facebook myself, but a Google around shows similar problems going back a year or so, affecting different browsers.
