DSLstats on Raspberry Pi
« on: August 16, 2013, 06:51:08 PM »

A user of DSLstats has successfully built DSLstats v3.9 on the Raspberry Pi (with Raspbian OS). Is anyone interested in trying it?

(It's actually v3.85, so you will get "Update available" messages which you should ignore).

Im afraid I havent got a Raspberry Pi to try it..  but this sounds like a very interesting development and a good solution for those users who would like to monitor line stats without having to keep a PC switched on permanently.  :)

I have a Pi and would be really interested but I doubt my router (HG533) is compatible with DSLStats.  >:(

Unfortunately not, it isn't Broadcom based.

Hiya guys and gals,

I do have a Raspberry pi, but haven't done a great deal with it yet. I would certainly be interested in looking into this use of the Pi to run DSLstats.

Can anyone point me in the right direction to get started with this.

Thanks,

I'll upload the RPi package to my website and give you a link. Assuming that you have Raspbian installed on the RPi then installation should be the same as on any other Linux system.

Thanks Eric,

I've just cranked up the Pi and discovered that it still has what I think is the original version of Linux as supplied by RS. I'll look into getting up to date with a current version of Raspbian, possibly today or tomorrow.

Thanks,

Here's a link to the RPi package. As mentioned, it's actually built as version 3.85, but it's exactly the same as 3.9. You'll get messages saying that a later version is available, but you should ignore these. Also, it's been built as a debug version, so the executable is quite large, but it should work normally.

Good luck. I've got to wait until Tuesday when my Pi is due to arrive, before I can test it. :)

My RPi turned up today (I only ordered it on Friday evening) and it's up and running, powered by my Kindle charger. DSLstats works nearly perfectly on it - see below. The only peculiarity I've found so far is that it fails to collect the IP address. My next task is to install Lazarus and build an "official" RPi version.

Well done Eric. I've finally got my act together and should be in a position to try it out either later today or tomorrow.

Excellent!

I'd give it a go, but none of my routers have a suitable chipset / interface  >:(

(Currently using HG533 with a crippled command line interface (it seems))

I think Asbokid established that it's actually got a Trend Micro DSL chip, not Broadcom at all. The CLI appears to have been written so as to mimic the Broadcom CLI, but so far in a very incomplete fashion.
