Once a day impulse
« on: July 22, 2013, 08:12:01 PM »

My ADSL line is quiet and stable and Routerstats shows this until about 6.15pm  Each day there is a short impulse which blows away my 6dB of noise margin and causes a reset.  There is the collapse of the noise margin followed by a quick recovery but with slower line speed of course.  Ten minutes later the noise margin shoots up to about 11dB and then drops back to 6dB.  Nothing is heard on the AM radio at 612kHz.  All devices in the house are switched off. Any suggestions about what to do next? The negative then positive excursion of the noise margin resembles a differentiated square wave.....

On the face of it, it certainly sounds like it may be a REIN issue.

I presume you have gone through all the usual troubleshooting such as testing from behind the master socket etc?
Since you have had no luck tracing the cause of REIN yourself, the only thing I can suggest is that you monitor and present the graphs to your ISP as proof of suspected REIN...  and hopefully they can then get a specialist REIN engineer out to you.   Unfortunately REIN can be very hard to track down, and you may have to jump through a few hoops first before someone at your ISP/BT takes note.

Good luck.
