Tiscali e-mail problem?

I wondered if anyone knows of a current problem with e-mail sent from tiscali.co.uk accounts?
2 different friends have sent me e-mails in the last 24 hours that have not arrived.
I'm fairly sure no problems at my end, everyone else's are arriving ok, and I check the yahoo spam folder before deleting.
I also note that people using "freeserve" dial-up accounts typically have a 12 hour delay (checked on headers).
I'd like to know about Tiscali!

E-mails from one friend are now coming through, although one with a small *.doc attachment is still missing, but not the other. The other had a *.doc attachment too - I wonder if that's the problem.

One of the e-mails with an attachment arrived this morning. According to the header data it took 36 hours for Tiscali to move it from their server to the Yahoo one; I got it from Yahoo 1 second later!
There seems to have been some Tiscali internal server transfers in the middle of the delay period too.
Is this the Christmas post effect  :'(

A friend of mine terminated her Tiscali account.  For several days beforehand, she had no service.  Tiscali were incapable of diagnosing the problem.  After termination, she found out that Tiscali had peremptorily deleted her POP email account with no possibility of recovering it.  Is this bad service or is this bad service?

Her successor ISP which is AOL (Carphone Warehouse AOL) seems good and the tech support is OK.  There were no problems with the MaxADSL service with AOL so what were Tiscali playing at?

Long barge poles come to mind.
