BSOD - XP+SP3
« on: May 30, 2013, 05:15:03 PM »

BSODs started last night with Stop Code 0X00000005 = "INVALID_PROCESS_ATTACH_ATTEMPT" on my quite elderly laptop.

The laptop will restart but crashes again immediately everything is loaded up.

In Safe Mode it stays connected

In Safe Mode with Networking it stays connected.

If I do a System Restore to an earlier date then it stays connected for a while then crashes.

This started last evening and there have been no changes to the set up (software downloads or updates) since early May.

I've tested the RAM and it's OK so any clues as to what might be causing it and any ideas of what I should check next please ?.......this is posted using the laptop after yet another restore !

Any hardware changes recently, or that could be failing? Do you use Trusteer for any online banking?

Have a look at these posts and see if they are any help:

ColinS you are a Saint !!

I renamed the folder where the culprit resides and success......very many thanks.

I had searched the Microsoft forum but my BSODs started at 11pm on 29 May and when I searched there was nothing, the first report on the forum was 31 May.

I will also be feeding this back to Trusteer.

May I buy you a "virtual" pint of what you fancy ?

You're welcome, but thank you anyway.  Consider it already drunk!  :drink:
