Too Long Script.

(1/1)

Peter:
My sister has a strange problem on her pc, when she begins an email in gmail as soon as she types the second word she gets this pop up message.

"Google not responding due to a too long script."

If she continues to type the message disappears, but she finds it irritating.
I looked for answers for her but all the solutions seem to provide a free down load but I suspect a cost is involved before the programme can be used.

Is there a simple free method to remove the pop up, also what causes it please?

Regards,

Peter

kitz:
If its the message Im thinking of then, its usually a result of a poor script on the web page she is visiting.

Does it just happen on that one page? or does it happen at other sites?
Which browser is she using?  Is she using any browser Addons?
Have you tried clearing the cache.

It could also be that her computer is using a lot of resources and not enough processing power/memory to fully process the page - eg other programs running in the background leaving not enough free to display a page which is heavy on scripts.

Peter:
It's not while using a website Kitz, it only happens when she is writing an email in gmail.

>>>  it only happens when she is writing an email in gmail.

Thanks for the clarification.  That rules out a few things, and more tends to point to a gmail/browser specific problem.
I take it that the machine is a reasonable spec one.

gmail is webmail.. ie uses a website page.
Different browsers have different time set before displaying the message.   I dont know which browser, but it may be an idea to check that whatever she is using is the latest version and that all other updates such as Java are done.
Also clear the cache to make sure that an older version of a script isnt running.
Double check any browser add ons to make sure they are all fine/up to date.

As a test try a different browser.

Peter:
Thanks again kitz, I'll look at those next time I see her, I just downloaded Chrome for her so the problem maybe fixed already.

Thanks for your help.

Peter
