new Install - Not complaining
« on: March 01, 2013, 11:29:40 AM »

I've just had my FTTC install  today. I guess the line to be around 210m including internal wiring.

I don't think I've any reason to complain looking at the attainable upstream/downstream
Attainable Net Data Rate:      40103 kbps        143496 kbps

The Openreach engineer, nice feller called Al, said it was the first install on the exchange, not just the cabinet. I'll see how it goes as the cab fills up.

I thought I'd post the stats in case they are any interest for a line of this length. Any comments?

None, other than the 'Attainable rates' show, basically 40Meg DS and 15Meg US. The US packages are only 2Meg or 10Meg, so don't be surprised, or go raising faults  :), to find your throughput speeds differ slightly from those shown.

Thanks for giving a positive post.  ;) ;D

To me that looks like an attainable 40Mb Upstream and 140Mb Downstream.

If that is the case, you should be able to max out the fastest FTTC package currently available. Very nice numbers!

Well spotted biohead ............. I do tend to speed-read posts, due to time constraints most of the time. My only defence is that when we have a faulty FTTC port that won't synch, our NGA Helpdesk will test other ports and push 40/15 (DS/US) Meg speeds down the line to our testers, to ensure the free port performs.  :)

Yes I was pretty pleased and surprised by the attainable figures given the line must be around 210m. It certainly gives me a decent bit of 'headroom' for the probable, inevitable drop, as it becomes more populated.

I think that Baldy_Bird will be very interested for statistical purposes and will also turn a shade of sea-sick green, whilst spitting out what remaining feathers that he has just plucked!  :P
