rs-ux and rs-w v2.4 released
« on: February 26, 2013, 01:45:33 PM »

Changes compared to v2.3:

- added option to minimise the program to the system tray
- added option to ask user to confirm exit from the program
- added extra configuration tab "Misc" for the above options and some others
- increased range of clipping for the FEC graph
- added option to disable clipping on the FEC graph
- added option for logarithmic Y axis on the FEC graph
- added option to snapshot all active graphs on exit
- added clipping to the bitswaps per minute graph
- some cosmetic improvement to the graphs (a little space above the highest Y value)
- improved handling of router switch-off or disconnection
- improved program shutdown procedure to resolve occasional access violation (hopefully)
- decluttered the configuration tabs

By way of an instant report:-  Bits swaps seem to always be zero with this version - this does not match the telnet data. The bit swap clipping is also in db which seems wrong.  I really appreciate not being able to close it accidentally.    You could consider making "close" minimize so only a right click quit on the system tray icon would allow quit.

You're quite right about the "dB" figure. That was the result of a copy and paste from another graph, and obviously shouldn't be there. Bitswaps display correctly here (on Linux 64-bit), so perhaps an error has crept into the Windows build - I'll check it out shortly.

I'll think about your suggestion to redirect "close" to minimize, but I'm not sure that's what everyone will want. Perhaps I'll make that another configurable option.

At short sight I can't see any difference in the Bitswap graph behaviour compared to the previous version. (Windows Version)

Thanks for the new logarithmic scaling function. Sadly it seems not to work. The application crashes immediately with a "Division by zero" error.

Bitswap is OK. Stupid me failed to spot the data was above the default clipping level!!!  :-[

Thanks for letting me know. Perhaps I should set the default level higher to avoid such happenings.

I'll check that out. It works fine here, but maybe there's a condition I haven't tested.

I certainly wouldn't want it by default and I am sure it would confuse some users. However, I am happy (and I think it would be best) if you had it as an option, Eric.

I can confirm this error on the Windows version only. At the moment it's a bit of a puzzle because the relevant sections of code are exactly the same on Linux and Windows. I'll be working on this a bit later, but in the meantime I can only suggest that Windows users leave the FEC graph running in linear mode.
