TP-Link TD-W8961ND
« on: February 24, 2013, 01:16:54 PM »

I might be going a bit mad.

Or I might have inadvertently done something.

Or something has happened that I have no knowledge of.

The TP-Link TD-W8961ND (V1.1) modem that I've now reverted to using seems to be more restricted than I remember.

I thought I was able to do simple Unix commands as well, like ls and cat via the telnet interface.

But now it just tells me "valid commands are.." and lists it's inbuilt commands.

Anyone know this ADSL modem?  It's the one that runs very hot, and is quite square in design (later models are in a curved case and don't get hot).

Does the telnet interface allow ls and cat and the like?

Am I going mad?   :paperbag:

Just to answer my own question here, I wasn't going mad but the modem was.

A power cycle of the device caused the commands to start being recognised again!
