No dialling tone
« on: February 09, 2013, 01:09:19 AM »

I am with BT.  The main socket is btopenreach.  It has a horizontal line with an ethernet socket above the line and a phone socket below the line.  I have no dialling tone but BT infinity is working.  Can I remove the faceplate from the main socket in order to test the phone line.  I looked at the BT videos but there is no example of the main socket I have.

Thanks.   Sorry if this is in the wrong place.

Yes, you may certainly remove the lower front section to expose the duplicated test-socket, within.

If a wired telephone does not operate when plugged in there, you may carefully remove the VDSL2 interstitial plate (note: doing so will disconnect your broadband service) and try with a wired telephone plugged into the test-socket of the original NTE5/A.

The results of your experiments should then be reported, on-line, to BT.
