Ideas please on noise spikes on upstream
« on: December 28, 2012, 08:18:15 PM »

I often see snrm graphs in rsux like this one, any ideas about what might be causing the upstream noise? I dont usually see spikes like this on downstream. I have rewired my one phone extension with cat6 cable in order to try and remove noise as far as possible and there are no ring wires connected. The spikes dont happen at the same time as peaks in CRC or FEC errors, may be 6-8 CRCs showing at around this time.

I see the same thing. It's quite intermittent and irregular, with some periods of a few hours without the spikes. I haven't been able to pin it down so far, but as it doesn't have any observable effect on speed or stability I haven't been worrying overmuch.

No, not just you. I notice similar, rather like Eric.

Now don't you just hate switching power supplies, especially those that serve flashing Christmas lights? All I shall say is that my US target SNRM is 6 dB and my DS target SNRM is 4 dB but look what I suffered earlier this month . . .
