TalkTalk brouhaha
« on: November 06, 2012, 01:10:33 PM »

Hello everybody,

We've just hit a snag with a potential VDSL client for TalkTalk.
He renewed his old contract just before the FTTC went live.

Furthermore because the BT Wholesale checker only estimates 14.5 Mbps they won't upgrade his service.
They also want well over £100 as an early cancellation fee.

Has anybody discovered either:-

A.    How to get someone with a modicum of sense inside TT to accept a 14.5 Mbps estimate and place an order for the VDSL service with BT Openreach ?

B.    How to get out of the penalty jail ?

Kind regards,
Walter

Hi Walter.

When I got out of my contract with TT I spoke to the 'escalation team'....It did take a bit of effort but finally they agreed and I got out of my contract after only 1 month FOC due to their continued lack of providing me with a connection.

I have heard that the TT forums is one of the best places to get anything constructive done.

Thanks Uncy,

If we have major successes or failures I shall report back in due course.

Kind regards,

Good luck walter.  I'll second UBs suggestion if you get stuck.

Gentlefolk,

Well at least honour is now satisfied, even if the end result isn't the preferred solution.
The end user spent some time talking to a very nice South African lady one day, followed by her supervisor the next day.

TT did accept that they were unable to waive their 15 Mbps rule and were therefore unable to supply the service the EU required.
As a gesture of good will they have said they will not demand the early cancellation fee on this occasion.

Kind regards,
Walter
