I didnt do the last Liverpool run, and they ended up doing a long diversion via manchester. - dont ask!

I ended up with the inevitable Muuuuuuum phonecall... and spent about as much time (and money at premium rate phone calls) in touch with Easyjet trying to make sure they got on their flight.   I expected Easyjet to be like they are on the TV, but actually they were very helpful.   With the aid of internet checkin, paying £10 for express security clearance.  They managed to get on a flight that was called at 05:40 despite not arriving at the airport until 05:35. Luckily they only had hand luggage and made the gate just as it was closing at 05:55. Talk about close..  it would been as easy - and less frantic - to have been the taxi. ???

...  and no taxi-ing tonight...  my uncle is taxi today. :drink:

All right for some then, my mission this week is an 800 mile round trip 'taxi' run to collect Dad and bring him to visit for a few weeks.  I'll be driving back South tomorrow,  then will have to do it all over again in a few weeks' to bring him home.

Not that I want any sympathy, or anything... :'(

Sorry BS, I'm powerless to intervene. She's the boss, and I tremble at her name. ;D

Yay, sympathy! :P

A good run back today, only disappointment was failing to make the Westmoreland (Tebay) services on M6 Cumbrian stretch in time for breakfast which, believe it or not, has always been excellent.    Westmoreland is locally owned, serves local produce, and IMHO is a world apart from any of the big chain operators.   Lunch  (sausage & mash) was OK, but I'd been looking forwards to bacon, egg, toast, black pud and the rest. :(

Free plug over.   There must be a 'back on topic' joke somewhere about how I'm still seeing flashing white lines (/stripes) from 400 miles of tarmac, but I can't quite find the right punch line.  ???

The full english brecky sounds the better option to me too.

Glad you had a safe drive....  a lil bit of light music for you before you go to bed.

Great, now I can drift off to sleep with that tune tune in my head, and have sweet dreams of the bit where M74 narrows to two lanes, the nice bit of M6 through the Lake District peaks, the M6/M42 junction that's easy to miss if you're a fool like me (only once!), the confusing overhead signage about using hard shoulder around M42...   ZZzzzz.

heh...  youre very welcome....  its also going through my head again now too  :-[

ahh yes m6/42...  about 10-12 yrs ago I used to do that route a fair bit.   Thats where the m6 toll was a god send and made it so easy...  however last time I was in that area I avoided the toll because I was being tight fisted and thought £5.50 each way was a bit too much :/
