Your SNR graph looks very jagged (compared to how it looked previously - see attached)

Does it always look like that at the same time of day?

I used to see such low SNRM values when the phone was used (faulty faceplate filter).

only noticed this to-day BE1 and my 24/7 stats logging has been turned off for 2 weeks  :-[

I will reboot HG612 tomorrow and see if I get the 1:1 Snr D & U, the upload snr is fine 6.4 but the Download seen a snr of 1.9 after 7pm yet no dissconnects and the HEC's errors have not taken a nose dive ( 10s of thousand in minutes)

All I did last weekend BE1 is to use the BT DSL cable that was supplied to me in the fibre package I was using my old Dsl cable from the days of Freeserve (2004) from Data Socket to HG612

Hmmm.

That sounds a bit ominous.

It may just be worth testing quiet line noise on 17070 for a few minutes whilst watching your SNRM levels in the HG612's GUI.

Following that, you could try dialling in from a mobile whilst again watching your SNRM levels.

If you see changes of say 0.4dB or more, upward or downward, it would suggest that a fault may be starting to brew somewhere, either at the faceplate or maybe at an external cable joint.

I was worried you would say that , Thanks BE1 your a Star !

Did the quiet noise test & could not hear anything, reset the Modem at 11pm last night and DL snr went back to 6.0 db (slower line rate 27223) at 6.30pm to-day can see the DL snr getting lower per hour its at 5.1 gonna start graphing.

Can you belive it ! it was the longer BT DSL cable causing lower DL SNR & lower sync, I replaced it back to original  ??? can extra 3 feet of DSL cause such difference ?

Stats back to norm

I glad to read that you have determined the cause and, thus, resolved the issue.

With regards to your question, I have to comment that "strange things do happen at sea". I suspect it is nothing to do with the length as such, probably more to do with the quality of manufacture or a defective lead slipped through the QA process.

It just goes to show how a small part of the circuit can have a huge impact on performance etc glad you faulted it yourself and got it sorted  :graduate:

Just goes to show how invaluable the router stats can be, there is no way I could  have seen the problem on a locked HG612  ;)

I seem to have 3Mbps more to-day (30.12Mbps)  ;D from the normal 27.5Mbps and
upload is faster to 6.78Mbps, Though my SNR is low 2.1 up & down
I like the extra speed but don't understand why the snr as gone down ?

There's a couple of unusual looking stats there.

Firstly the Retrain Reason of 8000. I don't recall seeing that on a VDSL2 connection before.
Is there anything in your modem's built-in log that might explain it?

Your US Attainable rate is much lower than US Sync speed.

DS Interleaving depth looks very high at 2067.

Both DS & US SNRM look very low at 2.1 & 2.2.
Have they gradually lowered to those levels, or were they already low when the connection resynced with its Retrain Reason of 8000?

How long has the connection been up?

pbParams is showing that 3 US bands are in use at Medley (Final) Phase, yet there is no bit-loading in the higher band & US Power is really low at only 1.9dBm over the US bands.

How is the connection performing in real terms i.e. does it actually "feel" quicker & more responsive?

Have you seen such "unusual" looking stats previously?

Thanks for replying to me BE1

I noticed the HG612 had a low sync last night before 11pm I just thought oh well will have to resync the modem to-day at 1pm but I didnt as I did a speedtest to-day and nearly fell of my seat when I saw 30Mbps so looked into the HG612 and as you can see ubove.

It must have did something on the fly early in the morning ? because the SNRM were 6.0 D 6.2 U at 11pm.

Connection is fine and feels the same the modem has been connected for 7 days
the last occation with low SNR DL 2.0 I changed the DSL lead but changed it back.

The last time I saw speeds like this was the first 2 days after FTTC installation 20th June.

I think I will leave the modem alone and see what happens  ;)

and the BT Speedtest show that I am sync'd at 30.2 unlike 27.2 yesterday really odd !

It may have resynced again then.
The BT Speedtest shows IP Profile rather than sync speed.

IP Profile is 96.79% of sync speed, so a sync speed of 32256 as per pbParams should have given an IP Profile of around 31220 (31.22Mb, not 30.2Mb)

Working backward, an IP Profile as mentioned of 30.2 suggests a sync speed of around only 31.2Mb rather than the 32.26Mb as reported in pbParams.

Regardless, it's still an improvement. :)
