Cannot Delete emails
« on: September 10, 2012, 10:25:23 AM »

I'm having a recurring problem in that I cannot delete some emails, after clicking delete a little box opens telling me 'Cannot Delete email'

Anyone have this problem if so how do I cure it?

Using Outlook Express, but a little while ago I coudn't delete from my deleted folder, or sent messages either.

I've been scanning slide photos and now wonder if I ought to move them eslewhere to make more room.

It sounds like one of the dbx files has have become corrupted - which can happen.  :/

Theres some instructions on the following page how to fix this

Good luck :)

You're righ Holden, it is not a serious problem, just annoying, that method doesn't work either.

Kitz, I looked at that link and followed the instructions as far as I could but one part in the instructions was not showing on my pc.

Some emails are still refusing to delete while others delete without bother. :'(

I don't use OE and it's a while since I have, but I would have thought that deleting the deleted items dbx should clear it.

You say part of the instructions were not showing on your pc?  this could be because you have to  make all hidden files and folders visible.

I used to have a similar problem in My Computer/Explorer, so what I did which seemed to work most of the time was to create a folder, then drag the offending files into the new folder, then delete the actual folder, and like I said that used to solve the problem most of the time, so maybe doing the same in OE may also work.

What I think happens is the action of creating a folder seems to release memory and thus allows the next instruction.
