Avast AV
« on: August 29, 2012, 02:27:26 PM »

Favour Please.

Is anyone using Avast AV?   If so are you having problems accessing the site?
Do you use the WebRep browser add on?   Can you post if theres any problems showing.

I dont have Avast installed and Im happy with my current AV so dont really want to have to install Avast on this machine to test, but I believe it may be stopping people accessing the site.

I was using Avast, but I uninstalled it because of this! I had the Network shield enabled and you can't add exceptions so you either disable it (rather defeats the purpose) or don't bother logging onto Kitz (I would rather not).

Thanks AR, so it could be the Network shield then?  Ive tried doing a search to see if I can check how or what could be stopping it, but Ive drawn up a blank so far.

Ive found a site that supposedly checks site and web reputation and its come up 100% clean, so I cant think of any reason why Avast should be supposedly blocking access

Unfortunately trying to find a list of how the Avast one works has drawn a blank too.

I really really didnt want to install Avast on this machine to test.  I ditched it ages ago due to pulling up false positives for files on my machine and telling me stuff were viruses when I knew damn well they werent - in particular some programs that Id programmed myself that 100% werent - yet Avast kept trying to quarantine them and it was nigh on impossible to tell it otherwise

Sorted.

A false positive from Avast - but at least they have corrected their mistake fairly promptly.

Sorry I couldn't contribute anything to the subject, but I'm pleased it's sorted. :)
