Is my port 80 open?
« on: July 31, 2012, 07:12:06 AM »

I seem to be having a problem port forwarding port 80 on this HH3.
Would some-one be kind enough to have a look at this post for me:-

http://forum.kitz.co.uk/index.php/topic,4542.345.html

There should be some piccies showing that are on my computer.
It would appear from various postings that more than I are having difficulty opening ports to the Internet.

Thank you in advance.

I picked out the actual URL from one of those messages and entered it into a browser, and got the message

"Unable to connect

Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at www.*********** (edited out)

The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few
    moments.
If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network
    connection.
If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure
that Firefox is permitted to access the Web."

Thank you Eric. It does seem the port is not open.
I'll have to work on it.

I've found another way of testing.

I had the wrong head on this morning.

Well I've got the port open but I can't see the pics that are supposed to be there.

If some-one would be so kind to give it a try for me please.

Yes that's the one.
I can't view it, perhaps it's a loop back problem. It's on this same machine and I think the loop back is disabled on this version of modem.

Thank you for the report. I'll just have to hope things are getting out there.

I've found a way round and it is to not assign an address to the web server. Odd really.

>> perhaps it's a loop back problem.

Im not sure if its the same modem, but I seem to recall several posts on the BT forums a few months back where users where asking for the loopback issue on one of the modems to be resolved. eg it wasnt working or the option wasnt there.
I cant recall which model it was, but if you do a search on the BT forum you may be able to find it.

Yes that is one of the problems, the other is port forwarding.
If I assign a listening port for my apache webserver the port gets blocked.
If I just assign the port number it seems to work.

I'll leave it as it is for now.

At least it doesn't affect the performance.
Thank you for your time.
