Well hello everyone, I'm back on.
The install went very smooth and glad to say everything is working.
The installer showed me his meter and I was only getting 80meg down and 20meg up.
If that is correct I will be answering the questions before they have been asked.

I Have include a speed test :-

Which rather contradicts what the guy showed me. Still early days so I will be patient and see what happens.
Anybody care to enlighten me please?

I'm not in a position to do any enlightening, but I'm delighted to hear that at least it's working smoothly. :)

That is the Sync speed between his HHT (hand held tester) and the DSLAM in the FTTC, whereas the Speedtest result you have shown us is a snapshot of the current throughput. You should not be too concerned, for the first 24 hours, whilst the "dust settles".  ;)

Well at least it's working and mighty fast at that.
Anything is in improvement on 3.5 meg.
At least I can watch the Olympics without that  hypnotists thing in the middle of the screen. ;D

Yes Burakukcat I should have realized the throughput and sync speeds would be different, but not that different. :o
Early days.

Phil: that's the fastest I've gone uphill in my life. Team GB here we come.

Now you know what to look forward to UncleUB.

Glad it all seemed to go smoothly.

As regards to throughput speed, it may be interesting to do a BT speedtest to get your IPprofile

>> 80meg down and 20meg up.

Hmmm I may be wrong isnt 80000/20000 what theyd see for the FTTC 80/20 trials?

Thank you Kitz.
Yes the 80/20 is now the standard connection for the unlimited package.
£26 is the cost and that is what I was paying for a 1/2 meg connection when I first joined the broadband revolution.

I tried the BT speed tester but got an error. I'll try it again now the dust has settled somewhat. :)

I believe that Beatie now markets her Infinity product in two varieties -- BT Infinity 1 (40/10) and BT Infinity 2 (80/20).
