Broadcom 6328 - anyone have any info on this chipset?
« on: May 30, 2012, 12:49:46 AM »

Iam struggling to find any information on this chipset,

its used in sky's version of the D-Link DSL 2640S,
all I can find is that it is a "lower power" chip that handles wifi-N and modem like the 6362, the 6362 is a dual-core 400mHz chip that is used in sky's Sagemcom F@ST 2504N router, its very good, fast and decent sync rate.

can anyone confirm if the 6328 is also dual-core and is also 400mHz..?

thanks

Sorry, I know nussing, only what Broadcom has released on the power ratings for the 6328 here [1]. And that looks like an obligatory disclosure under EC law.  It seems that Broadcom is revealing even less about its product range.  Not a sausage about the BCM6328 on the corporation website.. [2]

cheers, a

I will ask them

I also would like to know of routers that have the 6362 chipset - I like it, the wifi on it is really fast ping response when compared to older BCM chips (0.7ms compared to 1.3ms on 6358 and 1.6ms on 6348 - obviously to do with the faster chips) - the sync rate is good too, my Netgears hit 11.6Mb on my current connection but the 6362 gets 12.2Mb ..a massive improvement

However....I suspect very limited (if at all) compatability with DMT or Routerstats/Lite ....and locked-down sky fw ??

yup locked out...shame cos its a great chip, its getting me 1Mb more than the 6348 and 6358 ...I know that the sky router D-Link has been unlocked with a SNRM tweaking app available - it has a 6328 chipset which is mean to be a sort of low powered version of the 6348 but other things ive read suggest its similar to the 6362..?? - well thats all I can "work out" from info I have available

EDIT: I have emailed someone at BCM

The Technicolor TG582N has one and so does the Billion 7700N. The Billion was rubbish and disconnected a lot on my line and the Technicolor (which I still own) gives rather average performance and errors quite a lot.
