Author Topic: Suggestions requested for good ADSL2+ router (wireless unimportant)  (Read 1902 times)

I want a stable performing ADSL2+ router.  I like to use a separate wireless device so wireless unimportant to me for the ADSL device.  It is essential to be able to disable the wireless function.

I take it that most routers come with stateful packet inspection and intrusion detection.  These features are essential to me.

I would welcome suggestions of products which would satisfy my requirements.  I am pondering over a Netgear DG834Gv3.  Would this satisfy me?

I would suggest one of the following:

(1) Netgear DG834Gv4
(2) 2Wire 2700HGV
(3) 2Wire 2701HGV-C

Others will have their own opinions.  ;)

D-Link DSL-2740B (very stable on my ASDSL2+ connection, even when the noise margin drops to zero)

I don't disagree with the above either - it depends on the particular line.

Thank you for those thoughts.  I have perused the D-Link DSL-2740B User Guide and see all the functionality and security I desire.  Seems that WPA2 is not available with 802.11b/g on the DSL-2740B but then I did say that I won't be using its wireless capabilities.

Yes, it is, but I'm not sure if this applies only to later firmware versions. Mine is upgraded to version EU_3.01.
