Suggested Sites, Again!
« on: April 20, 2012, 10:54:23 AM »

I know this topic has been discussed and no known way of removing it permanently, I usually just delete the icon from the tool bar (?)

However now when I try that I get the message as in the attached print screen, I can't see where it is in use or what disc it says is full.

Help please.

I use unlocker assistant.
Its brilliant for being able to get rid of stubborn files or close programs that are running.

Ever had such an annoying message given by Windows: Cannot delete file: Access is denied. There has been a sharing violation. The source or destination file may be in use or the file is in use by another program or user. Make sure the disk is not full or write-protected and that the file is not currently in use. Unlocker is the solution. Unlocker is an Explorer extension that allows you with a simple right-click of the mouse on a file or folder to get rid of error message such as error deleting file or folder, cannot delete folder: it is used by another person or program.

When you click on it, it gives more info about the file/process, such as location etc..  and options available for dealing with the file or process.

http://www.emptyloop.com/unlocker/

I'm going to have to pass on this Kitz, tried to download this and all I got was:

Zoomloader

Flip Toast

Wofam

Plus an attempt to install a tool bar and search engine I neither need nor want.  Why can't these things run simpley?   ???

I'm not technically able to seperate or even identify what's needed and what isn't.

Thanks anyway.

I'll have a look, maybe its a bad download site.   The version I have... ive had for several years and it works good.
Got a docs appt in a bit..  but I'll see what I can find...  because the one I have works well without any problems, but Ive had it so long now I cant recall where I got it from and I just put a link up which I got from google.

Ive just had a quick look to see if I still have the original .exe that I used to install, but I dont Im afraid, otherwise I would have passed a copy to you.

However, I notice CNet says this

Quote
Unlocker includes optional bundled software that may trigger alerts from security software. Unlocker has been tested for malware by the CNET Download.com team and meets our security requirements.

Read more: Unlocker - Download.com http://download.cnet.com/Unlocker/3000-2248_4-10493998.html#ixzz1t3bJKeFN

According to that it says optional....  is there options when you come to install about adding a toolbar...  as that is probably whats causing the trigger.

I didn't see any options to dowload the tool bar Kitz, or the other downloads, when I used that link to download what I thought was unlocker Zoomloader appeared.

I'll try again maybe from another site.
Thanks for talking the trouble for me, hope the visit to the doc went OK.

Regards,

Peter

Think ive found out what it is. Theres a lot of discussions on the internet about how many AVs are throwing up false positives on unlocker.
Although installation does offer to install the optional Bing toolbar this can be opted out and/or you can delete the ebay shortcut very easily.

Im unsure if its because it does have some adwarebing toolbar (which can be opted out of), or some seem to say its because of the way the program works and needs to be able to unhook processes which is why some AVs dont like it.

Theres a full discussion of it here
http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=248573&page=3

where theres also a link to download the portable version (without installer).
