lju2 to nte5
« on: April 02, 2012, 12:38:38 PM »

The master socket is currently an lju2 and I think I would like to convert to nte5 - Ive been lead to believe this could improve broadband speed.

The router is currently connected to an extension which is wired into the side of the front plate (as shown in attachment). I plan to change this so that it connects to the front of the lju2 master socket but should I first change the lju2 to a nte5?

How much will this cost for openreach to do? Does the fact that there are extensions installed put the cost up above £30 (I no longer require these extensions)?

What are the benefits of changing to nte5?

If NTE5 is too expensive and I continue with lju2 can I disconnect the bell wire?

Sorry for so many questions! So confused  ???

Will any unused extensions affect speed?

If you don't require extensions why not just disconnect the wiring to them in the master socket?
(technically you probably shouldn't do that, but....)

Is this simple to do? All the guides are for NTE5. Same goes for the ring wire.

Undo those screws and post a photo of the wiring.
