Hmm :hmm:

I think this would have been the best location for your thread. (Perhaps Eric will re-home it, please.)

Assuming that Openreach have installed a Huawei HG612 modem as the active CPE, then you need to take a look at one of Asbokid's blogs, as you will need to upgrade to firmware to use the unlocked version.

I'm sorry to read the above but you will have to significantly expand upon what you are trying to do, with what and how, along with any errors (or other messages) you may have encountered before anyone here will be able to assist you.  ???

Please start by telling us which Openreach modem has been fitted (a Huawei HG612 or an ECI B-FOCuS?) and which router are you using?

That's good to know. At least you do not have one of the yet-to-be-unlocked ECI modems.  ;)

Assuming that you have a copy of Asbokid's unlocking instructions for the HG612 modem to hand, at which step (out of nos.1 to 15) do things start going wrong for you?  :-\

13. Do not turn off the modem until the new firmware is loaded and the modem
has rebooted. This may take several minutes.
14. Once the modem has rebooted, visit the address

this part im having a problem i think it shows up as a timeout (im not sure if that should happen)

Hmm . . .  :hmm:  That is odd.

I think that once I had initiated Step 12, I waited until I saw the lights on the HG612 go out and then I disconnected the Ethernet cable from my laptop (essentially Step 13). At that point, I went for my evening meal and just left the modem connected to the power supply.

Upon my return, I reconnected the Ethernet cable to my laptop and power-cycled the HG612. Once it was fully re-booted, I then went to the address 192.168.1.1 (Step 14) and obtained the GUI login screen (Figure 4).

The only thing of which I can think, that may be the cause, is if the firmware image you have downloaded was corrupted in the process. Here are the various check-sums from my copy of the unlocked firmware file --

md5sum      --> 063d193e5e579075f1d53947ff46bfa3
sha1sum     --> fb057c2f639ffb196f6aad348848f05555a60110
sha256sum --> 728c63bddfc3dd99eca093a8826ddb4fb070245f1a76d973ff1f91c94ca58db9

Hopefully Asbokid will see this thread and may have other suggestions.

Just a thought.
Assuming the unlocked firmware was uploaded to the modem, how are you now physically connecting the PC to the modem (which LAN ports), which Operating system are you using & which browser?

Hi covlad1987,

Does the HG612 modem work okay for gaining internet access?

If so, it sounds like the routing in Windows needs sorting out.  I haven't got any experience of that, sorry.   However, the IP address for the ethernet interface that connects to LAN2 on the HG612 should be in the range of 192.168.1.2 - 192.168.1.254.

The HG612 GUI makes quite extensive use of Javascript.  So Javascript does need to be enabled in your browser.

cheers, a

p.s. just for good measure, give the modem a long reset.

Good stuff :-)

So LAN1 of the HG612 (which provides an ethernet bridge from the DSLAM) is connected to your TalkTalk HG532 router.
And the ethernet NIC of your PC is connected by ethernet cable to an ethernet port on the HG532.
And the HG532 is assigning your PC with a local IP address by DHCP in the range 192.168.1.0/24 (but excluding 192.168.1.1 which is the HG612's static address)?

If those are all okay..

A second ethernet cable should now connect LAN2 of the HG612 to a spare ethernet port on the HG532.
Your PC should then get WAN connectivity with a suitable default route for the HG532
And this configuration should also provide connectivity through http://192.168.1.1 to the GUI of the HG612 for line statistics

cheers, a
