There are so many (still with logos) BT OR vans in the auctions that it must be so easy to look like a proper team working at the roadside.  Just add a few barriers and hi-viz jackets.

Yesterday, I saw a chap working in a local FTTC cabinet and his van wasn't an OR van, but some other commercial organisation.  Do they sub-contract FTTC work?  He had what looked like a JDSU in his hands.

Hi Colin,

Yes BT do frequently use subcontract staff for FTTC work amongst other items.
BT also hire vans when their's are being serviced etc.

Kind regards,
Walter

I can't remember the name on the side of the van, but the signage appeared to be an "intelligent digital company".   :)  His clothing was also "too good for OR" - no offence to the hard-working OR people. :o

"DI Ian Glover said: "Thieves steal this cable but do not consider the consequences to the people they steal from, in this case BT, and the knock-on effects to local business and the wider community."

The knock-on effect if someone stole my copper would be that I would probably get my good connection back again when it was replaced

Now there's a thought...........................

@ Paul,

On the other hand, if there was someone really intelligent at the helm, perhaps they might discover very significant benefits from fibre as well as its zero scrap value.

Kind regards,
Walter
