Streaming videos from PC to PS3
« on: December 11, 2011, 05:47:15 PM »

I have some 1080p video files on my PC. Since my PC isn't powerful enough to play the files smoothly, I have been streaming the content to my PS3 using Windows 7 media sharing.

This works well with no noticeable loss of quality.

My problem is that I have to go into the services on my PC and restart the WMPNetworkSvc service every time I switch the PS3 on, otherwise the PS3 doesn't detect the PC.

Anyone any ideas on how to make this a permanent arrangement?

When you restart that service, are you setting to "automatic" or "manual" ?

Are you PS3 drivers up to date and correct for Win7 ?

The PS3 is up to date. I think the fact that it owrks at all means that the drivers arent an issue.

I set the service in my PC to automatic, but then when I turn on media streaming, it changes the startup to automatic delayed. Not sure why.

Automatic delayed is the default start for this service on  Win7......which may be why your system is switching to that all the time.

Have you tried setting the service start to "manual" and letting the program start it when called up  ?
