Fault reporting a BT provided broadband service
« on: December 01, 2011, 04:23:44 PM »

Gentlefolk,

In order to avoid hideous ramblings about the BT.com web site, here is a link direct to their broadband faults chat-line page.
(However I'm not sure how long it might remain available.)

http://bt.custhelp.com/app/contact#h=eyJzdGVwMCI6ImNvbnRhY3RJdGVtTGluazU2MjciLCJzdGVwSWR4IjoxLCJzdGVwMSI6ImNvbnRhY3RJdGVtTGluazU2MjcsNTYyOSJ9

I am very pleased to report that I did the on-line chat including uploading a screen picture of the diagnostics page which was immediately accepted as being genuine by Kevin Curry. (Note the full name without spelling difficulties !) Kevin then telephoned me directly without all the usual security questions. He immediately volunteered that he had seen 6 Radius log drops just today and a visit by an Openreach broadband specialist is already booked for next Monday morning.

To me this is a very VERY welcome improvement in BT Retail's broadband fault progressing arrangements.
Long may it continue and become the normal way of dealing with such faults, always assuming you can get a sufficiently reliable connection to use it.
The process now needs to be made smart-phone compatible so even the broadband signal would then be less important in areas with mobile coverage.

Kind regards,
Walter

Unfortunately, Walter, when I take that link I just get taken to a standard BT web page and not a transcript of your "chat" interaction.  :(

A partial screen-shot is attached . . .

Hi Bkk,

You should from that page be able to click the link to the chat page.

Even if you have to blunder through umpteen pages on how to connect a filter to the test socket etc. etc. etc., the end results are so much better than dealing with the ever-so-polite script-reading eastern peoples.

It is a very refreshing change being able to on-line-chat (without 10 minutes or merry jingles) and then speak to a native of these Isles who is actually trying very hard to help you solve the problems with the wretched infrastructure many are obliged to use.

Kind regards,
Walter

Sorry Walter but it doesn't work. All it does is begin to setup a new chat link with a advisor which, of course, is not what I want.

Hi Bkk,

Perhaps we have joined the Tower of Babel !

I was trying to provide a link to be able to establish a chat session without wading through every other BT help page.

Kind regards,
Walter
