Zyxel VMG8924-B10A rebooting
« on: December 08, 2023, 05:37:13 PM »

Once the honeymoon was over with my shiny (not so) new Zyxel, it started misbehaving as in doing spontaneous reboots, almost daily. There's nothing in the logs. Actually, I can't see the logs as they seem be erased upon restart. The time is also reset . But the configuration is, oddly, retained. ???  So far, I've tried swapping the power supply with another 12V/2A from my old HH6, and I've removed anything that was not absolutely needed from the config, 5GHz WiFi, shares/print/etc. It works as modem+router+AP though.
Any ideas where to go next? I'm afraid that with so many restarts, I'll be back to my 35Mb capped line. I might try next to configure a syslog server, maybe I'll be able to capture anything interesting before the spontaneous reboot. I'll keep an eye on memory as well. Any idea how to kill/remove smbd and voiceApp, looks like the kill command is not available.

Do you think it would be worth reflashing the firmware?

I've got my remote syslog server up and running, if nothing meaningful shows up in the logs before the reboot, I guess this would be my final call (reflashing).
