Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock'
The site may have some info useful info for my wife's med situation, so has the error got anything that can be dealt with my end?

I would guess that it's probably just a temporary problem with the site in question.

Definitely not anything at the users end, that is a server fault often caused by too many connections.
