how long shall i leave it on? bloody kids wanting to play on xbox live

How long ?.......At least until after half term

No leave it connected for as long as you can but at least for 30 minutes then take the stats.....that is if it hasn't disconnected by then. If it does then if it discons every 5 minutes then grab the stats as soon as you can.

Just connected o2 box to master

Master, i.e. the external socket of the NTE5 or test socket, i.e. the internal socket of the NTE5 ?

http://www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/socket.htm

Very strange that the last set shows a drop in Error Seconds from 11 to 9, usually they accumulate.

Also all 3 sets show different connection speeds although you say that it stayed connected up until 39 seconds. Are you sure it stayed connected ?

If it's actually the ADSL which is disconnecting, then that's quite probably a fault on the line. The best way to diagnose this is to install Routerstats or Routerstats-Lite to monitor your connection. This should work easily with the Netgear router. Run it for a while then copy a snapshot of the Target noise margin graph here, and we will get a better idea of what's happening.

Assuming that you're using the regular message editor on the forum, click on "Attachments and other options" below the edit area and click the Browse button to find the snapshot image on your system. Then click Post, and the snapshot will appear below the message.

ok 1st try

just playing as well downloading / uploading a torrent and getting

97kb/s upload
278kb/s download

remember my snr are set at 6 according to o2 and it is the netgear router thats banging it up to around 15

if this is gonna be a lot of hassle then i could just put the o2 box back on and get o2 to put snr up to 15

this way i wasnt getting any asdl disconnections but my speed was terrible but may have to live with that

Your Routerstats snapshot definitely reveals a problem with intermittent noise spikes, which in my opinion are probably the result of a high resistance line fault. Does the phone work normally, or is there audible crackling or hissing?
