How do I find out how fast my network is? My modem is a G router.

Also, when I receive my home hub 3, how do I check whether my laptop is running at N speed with my laptop?

Presumably you mean the connection speed of your wireless network (rather than your broadband line)?
You check the wireless network link status on your PC/laptop. Where/how depends which operating system you're using - you haven't said.
