I have Sky fibre with a Openreach HG612. I've currently got an Apple Airport Time Capsule (ATC) connected directly to it having previously extracted my sky username / password using the tools at
http://www.ph-mb.com/products/sky-calc and everything is working just fine.
I recently bought an Asus RT-AC88U router but don't seem able to get it to connect to the internet. I've connected it's WAN port to the LAN 1 port on the HG612 and set the WAN Settings as :
WAN Connection Type : PPPoE
Enable WAN : yes
Enable NAT : yes
Enable UPnP : yes
Get the WAN IP automatically : yes
Connect to DNS Server automatically : yes
PPP Username : myusername@skydsl
Password : mypassword
Disconnect after time of inactivity : 0
MTU : 1492
MRU : 1492
Service Name : <blank>
Access Concentrator Name : <blank>
Additional pppd options : <blank>
Enable PPP Echo Detect : <blank>
Enable VPN+DHCP Connection : no
Hostname : <blank>
MAC Address : <blank>
Extend the TTL value : no
In the logs I'm getting...
pppd[2336]: Connected to <some MAC address> via interface eth0
pppd[2336]: Connect: ppp0 <--> eth0
pppd[2336]: CHAP authentication failed
pppd[2336]: Connection terminated.
I know the skydsl l/p are correct as they work just fine with the ATC so why am I getting a CHAP authentication failed message?
I've read that some people unlock their HG612 modems. Do I need to do this? I didn't to get the ATC working.
Any ideas?
thanks
