Just updated thinking it was version 7.0.0,but in fact it is showing as version 7.0.1.....(can't keep up) ;D
Click on the orange Firefox icon>help>about Firefox>check for updates
Edit.......All my add-ons that worked with version 6 work with version 7

Not sure what they have done, but it certainly loads much quicker, and I thought it was already quick!

Quick off the mark as usual Phil. :)
I've upgraded, and there's no apparent change here at all.
-
The update has been on various download sites for a few days now,but my own Firefox is on the 'release channel' and I have it set to 'ask me what I want to do' instead of auto updating.
I was surprised when it updated it was for version 7.0.1,which means they have rolled another update out since version 7.0.0 was released.
Like Eric I have not noticed any difference

Main benefit is to reduce the memory footprint of Firefox, especially memory leaks. I suppose that translates into faster for me since I leave FF open for very long periods - sometimes days.
Colin

Yes, that's quite possible.
-
Looking at the memory info (just type about:memory into the address bar) the memory leaks seem to have been stopped.
Colin
PS - the memory used doesn't increase over the day if I take a series of readings with known tabs/urls open is what I meant to say

I hadn't come across about:memory before, so thanks for that. I see there's a link at the bottom of the page which says "More verbose". ;D

Even better are GC and GC+CC - hover over the buttons and see what they do - marvellous!

At the bottom of the about:memory page.

At the bottom of the about:memory page.
I don't know where that is :-[

Type "about:memory" into the Firefox address box.

..... not a chatterbox ;) , but extends the lines that are shortened.

I see.
I just did it but to be honest the technical jargon doesn't mean much to me ???

Th main use I have put it to is to occasionally check how much memory particular sites are gobbling up if I leave them open in a tab. Before the latest update, memory leaks gradually ate into my memory - increasing 10% or thereabouts every 4 hours. Since I tended to leave them open for days sometimes, it progressed to the point where my machine would hang or run VERY slowly. Now the memory leak problem seems to be solved or at least minimised.
I expect real techies get much more use out of it, but it served a purpose for me (amateur techie).
