i posted on herer before about how bad my line is i just found out how long my actual line is from my house to the exchange

3900 metres :shock: any help lol?

no wander my line attenuation is above 60 :(

As fas as I'm aware, your attenuation shouldn't really be that much for that length of line.

I'm referring back to one of your previous posts where you said:

"i got about 4 ADSL filters in my house connected and only 2 phones are connected to 2 filters if i even remove a filter without a phone conencted my SNR still goes down by about 5db"

Would it be possible for you to draw a diagram of how all your phone wiring and where all the phone sockets in the house are... and where your phones, modem and sky box etc are?

I know it's a bit of a pain in the ass to ask you to do that, but I'm not sure your filters are all correct. This would help with stability. You can post the diagram up on something like http://www.imageshack.us and link to it from here (using "forum code 2").

By the way, did you get the 1Mb regrade off Karoo yet?

Post by: chris87 on August 15, 2006, 11:44:52 AM: i will draw a diagram as soon as i can but i still got over 60 line attenuation at my master socket karoo told me my length of the line and they said i could get 1 meg but i asked why my line is so long and they just dont mention it no matter how many times i mention my line length :(

but the good news is my SNR downstream is 23db which i dont think is bad its being increasing lately :lol:

Post by: roseway on August 15, 2006, 12:32:30 PM: I'm about 3km as the car flies, so my line length is probably in the same region as yours. My attenuation is 41dB. If your figures are correct then it looks like there's a fault on your line. You should take this up with your ISP.

Post by: soms on August 15, 2006, 12:34:47 PM: We're about 3.2k from exchange as the car flies. Both me and a neighbour just down the street have line attenuation of 63. We're in a rual area, so not that many ways the lines can get here, so our line length couldn't be too great.
