Why does Opera only update from time to time,yet Firefox and Chrome always seem to be releasing updates ???

Although Opera is free of cost, it's more in the nature of a commercial program, and they tend to put out new releases only when there's a distinct advance. Open source programs like Firefox (and Chrome to a degree) are continuously updated. With FF you can install one of their nightly builds and have it updated every day.

Tbh I can't believe that Operas share of the browser market is so low. :shrug2:
I use it quite a lot and find it just as quick as Firefox.Once you find your way around(same as any browser)it has a lot going for it :)

As to frequency of updates.........Firefox, like IE, uses directx for rendering and directx is notorious as being the number one weak link in any system or program.......the developers are forced to play catchup frequently and issue patches by way of updates as these weaknesses are exploited by the nasties.
Chrome is not really a browser, although it is being pedalled as that at the moment. Chrome is in effect a beta version of a nascent operating system and like all beta software will be subject to frequent tweaks, changes and developments.
By using Chrome, you are acting as a guinea pig for the dreadful Google organisation.
Opera does not use directx and is a final program in it's own right.
