Because of family concerns we have only now got around to booking a holiday. I cannot fault the local agent, who spent considerable time suitable hotel and dealing with flight time problems. So many required a gut wrenching very early departure and late night arrival home, or airport hotel stays! Found one after an hour and went home happy. So far so good!
Because of ages and my previous health problems, I phone insurance co we have dealt with several times, without hassle.
I gave details to the clerk, who did not ask about health. but gave me a holding reference. On strength of that, I confirmed booking and paid in full (late date and not refundable).
On going back to insurer I was asked if the earlier clerk had done medical questionnaire. :shoot: :shoot:
Upshot was pre exis med cons would not be covered!
I demanded to speak to a manager and voiced my dissatisfaction how my case had turned out, that I had been misled, and I was very willing to escalate as far as I could, if I incurred financial loss.
Result: recordings were listened to, and trouble was a keying error for date of my bypass in 2003. Fully covered with no loading.
Buddha, Allah and.... give me strength! ::)

Obviously a little on the late side now, but here is a list that I put together on another forum of know insurers that deal with pre existing medical complaints.
(Personally I have found SAGA to be the cheapest and I know they are also a reliable company)
This list of insurance companies is just to be able to give you a list of companies to save you having to search for them.
Obviously there are other companies but they have not been omitted for any particular reason.
1) The companies at the top of the list are known to have been used by people who may suffer from one or more medical conditions that require reporting to the insurance company to be able to be covered.
2) The second part of this list are companies that deal with various types of insurance some including medical conditions.
3) The list at the end are companies that have been mentioned with regards to either Property and DASK insurance in Turkey.
4) When doing a on-line quote Turkey is classed as being in the Europe category.
N.B.
Failing to report a known medical condition could render the whole policy void.

TBH with colon cancer and CABGx4 under my belt I have had no trouble getting insurance. The company in question, I've used about four times, and they have given me the least hassle of all before yesterday. Yesterday's hassle was, as I said, poor keying.
As to specialist insurers, they can be tough and sometimes their quotes can be higher than even a travel agent's with a loading.
The inanity of some insurers! ::) What about this asked in connection with my Ca op performed in 2000
" Since your operation have you attended hospital in connection with it?"
" I had my routine check up a few months ago. All was clear."
"Sorry. we can't cover you."
For Pete's sake, there's less risk as I'm known to be clear, but insurer's thinking OMG!
Then once I was asked , what was a hemi-colectomy. Give them a dictionary, I say!

I originally created it for a Turkish/expat forum which is why most of the companies start with Turkey related sites, but don't let that put you off.
I booked through Thomson and they wanted £29.99 for travel/holiday insurance, unfortunately I could not remember the name of one of my ailments (no not the old age one) C.O.P.D and Intermittent Claudication, so paid knowing I could cancel if needs be and get a full refund. (as agreed)
So I phoned Mondial which is the company that Thomson deal with and they then wanted a "extra" £97.00
(£97 + £29.99 = £126.99)
I had already done a check on the internet and SAGA had come back with a quote of £42 (ish) so you can guess the rest of the story.
Just as a matter of interest, the AA are also very competitive for their travel/holiday insurance.

...... Renloup, you may probably know this, but just a hint .... unless you need to, don't take a lot of Euros with you, you'll get a better rate by using your credit card at ATM's.
