Title: Empty uninstaller reference
Post by: renluop on August 19, 2011, 01:46:22 PM
A registry cleaner has brought up several errors marked  as title, with recommendation "delete erroneous value".

Has anyone (probably lots of you ;)) knowledge of what all that means, and how to follow the advice? Please!

We were talking about registry cleaners in this thread http://forum.kitz.co.uk/index.php/topic,9801.0.html and the advice is not to use them.

Wrongly used, they can do a lot of damage and correctly used, their benefit is minimal.

As to your own query, if your system and your installed progs. are all working as they should, leave well alone.....these cleaners should only be concerning themselves with old/redundant keys so any "error" in such shold not affect your system.

If the items in question are causing you problems, the full path of the key/value will help to identify what is wrong.

As an example of the value talked of in your report. I used to have Ad Aware installed but it was uninstalled years ago. The old associated registry keys are still on my machine doing no harm.
The full path is HKEY_CURRENT_USER_SOFTWARE_LAVASOFT_AD AWARE 2007

and the "value" is the right hand most column as shown in the attached.

Now, what are you going to change that to ? .......We need that full path to determine, but as stated, if you system is running ok...ignore the whole thing.
