Sorry if this is in the wrong place .....
This may seem to be a silly question :'( when I download a programme for installation I have a folder in My Documents called Downloads !! and everthing goes in there, so I can then find the necessary to install. (I don't install to desktop because I don't have any desktop icons showing .... I think it makes the screen untidy ::) ) My question is, once these programmes have been installed can I delete the 'download' ? because I am accumulating rather a lot.

In short............yes.
Deleting these files will not affect the working of the associated programs.
Of course, if they are related to "paid for" progs, or if you think that you may have to reinstall at some time....then retaining them may be the best option.
