Post by: dave.m on October 12, 2007, 12:30:58 AM
Some of these may test your memory of your favourite songs from yesteryear  and newer!  :baby:

Lyrics Quiz
*
Name the songs, also if you know the artiste  8)  put their name down but some songs have been sung by other artistes so it is the title that counts.
*
1. “To dance beneath the diamond sky with one hand waving free, silhouetted by the sea, circled by the circus sands, with all memory and fate driven deep beneath the waves - let me forget about today until tomorrow “
*
2. "I can't be holding on to what you got when all you've got is hurt".
*
3. “I dream at night I can only see your face
I look around but its you I cant replace”
*
4. “Crept in your room
Woke you from your sleep
To make love to you”
*
5. “Don’t need a virgin priest
But I need someone I can cry to
I need someone to protect”
*
6. “Don't think I need anything at all.
No! Don't think I'll need anything at all.”
*
7. “So many dreams I kept deep inside me
Alone in the dark but now
You've come along”
*
8. “And the sign flashed out its warning,
In the words that it was forming.
And the signs said, the words of the prophets”
*
9. “Love can bend and breathe alone
Until the end it finds you a home
Don’t care what the people may say”
*
10. “She's a big teaser, she took me half the way there
She's a big teaser, she took me half the way there now”
*
Decider. What is the connection? Kevin Stacey (2000), John Wayne (1970), Daniel Day-Lewis (1990).

I'll give you some clues Saturday  ;) and answers Sunday

Birthday Clues.

As it’s my birthday today I felt that I could help a little with some clues.

The songs have been performed by these artistes, amongst others, but the list is not in the order of the questions.

Celine Dion
Pink Floyd
U2
Whitney Houston
Simon & Garfunkel
Police
Simply Red
Beatles
Rolling Stones
Bob Dylan.

Well this put some strain on the brain but we're running out of time so here goes:

1. Mr Tambourine Man – Bob Dylan

5. Waiting On A Friend – The Rolling Stones

6. Another Brick In The Wall – Pink Floyd

8. Sound of Silence – Simon & Garfunkel

9. Fairground – Simply Red 3. Every Breath You Take – The Police

10. Day Tripper – The Beatles

And niggling:

4. “Crept in your room
Woke you from your sleep
To make love to you”

I keep humming ‘I Drove All Night’ but I’m sure it’s Roy Orbison singing and I didn’t think he did that song (in fact he might have been dead by the time it came out)

Good quiz though, thanks Dave  :graduate:

The one that I did get was no 3 - Every breath you take - Police.

No 4 - Now you mention it -  youre right it is "I Drove All Night", but like you its not Roy Orbison that I'm thinking who sang it.

Celine Dion recorded it as well Kitz    (not that I KNEW that, I just spotted it when I googled for the You Tube thingy for Steph )  ... :)   Perhaps that's who you were thinking of  ??

Got it (with the help of google) cause I was thinking female singer.

Possibly Celine Dion-I Drove All Night (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NV5nqF6mVCQ).

Although Cindy Lauper (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MUjOs-_A2Ls) also did a cover of it which I also remember - probably my fav version and the one I was thinking of.

Ooooh sorry  :-\ it involved much mutterings for some of them believe me, I got some funny looks in Asda yesterday  ::)

Thanks for the vid Kate, I'm not so crazy after all then.  I thought 'that's it' when I read Cyndi Lauper Kitz, but I'd never have associated Celine for some reason - probably because I shut off when she's on lol!

Decider. What is the connection? Kevin Stacey (2000), John Wayne (1970), Daniel Day-Lewis (1990).

They were all winners of the Oscar for Best Actor in that specific year

TV Adverts next week so, unless you always dash to the fridge for another beer during the annoying breaks you might stand a chance.
