Lovely, tickmike, and thank you for the linky.. :)
These guys are sitting on eggs...unlike the Derby pair who are as yet eggless.. :(
I have a little difficulty with the second link, the "direct to webcam" one........when I click on that, all I get is a pop-up telling me to install Windows MediaPlayer 9....... ???

Well You know I use Linux and I have difficulty with the first link and I got in-touch with the uni and they gave me the second link witch I can open .

At the moment I can't access it either way, but I expect I'll find a way. :)

In PCLinuxOS2010 for both Firefox and Opera I loaded the webcam instantly,it is the MPlayer plugin they use.
-
I've located the necessary plugin, and now both links work, but the second one gives a full-screen picture.

I've located the necessary plugin.
What are you using.
-
Its like watching paint dry :D
Only joking,thanks Mike :)

The package I installed is called gecko-mediaplayer, which is a newer replacement for mplayer-plugin.

Not sure how many egg's she has ?.
Could do with a blog like Derby.
-
Just looked at the web cam and she was moving about and
SHE HAS FOUR EGGS' :)
-

Great news Mike.

Do many of you look at this video stream ?
On the local news program tonight 'BBC East Midlands Today' It showed them 'ringing' the chicks and taking a 'down' sample to do DNA profile on each chick.
Unlike Derby they just open a window next to the srape (nest) and grab the chicks (As you look at the webcam the one-way window is on the right).

Yes, I have it active in a separate work-space and take a look at various times of the day.
Unfortunately that is not a local news program for me . . . :(
-
Yes, certainly more entertaining than the Derby webcam which grabs frames every 8seconds or so. I posted in the Derby thread that although the chicks hatched approx 1 week earlier than Derby, these seem to be massive in comparison.
They're already showing the darker plumage and flexing their wings but still a little unstable on their feet, also the 2 parents seem to leave the nest unattended for longer periods.
The better video also brings out the gory details of feeding time !!

I think you can get that on the 'iplayer'

Thanks, Mike, I'll experiment. :)

At about 2pm there were 4 chicks and at 2.30pm there's only 2. :'(
I hope they have just gone for a walk on the roof because it's only a short hop down from the 'scrape'.
-
After feeding time at around 5pm, the 2 largest chicks hopped onto the edge of the nesting box nearest the camera and literally fell over onto the surrounding ledge then started flexing their wings. The other 2 just looked on curiously.
-
Yes, I have been watching them get quite adventurous today.
At a later feeding-time this afternoon, I noticed that the parent employed a different technique by standing on the food (as usual) and encouraged the chicks to tear off a beak full for themselves. :yum:
-
Have they fledged ?. :o
At 2 PM 2nd June the nest is empty !, There either on the roof or they have fledged.
I went on a 8 mile walk in the 'Peak District' yesterday I did not get chance to look on the web cam, was anybody watching?.
-
They've been around today but are getting very adventurous.....but I haven't seen either of the parents today.
There are 2 that look near to fledging, another one still has to lose a few downy feathers and the fourth has a while to go yet.
The Chichester 4 are well advanced, I think one of them has already fledged. This morning it flew from just in front of the webcam up onto the roof of the nesting box and I've not seen it since.
16:21 : one of the Nottingham 4 is on the ledge now, no sign of the others
-
Just seen one on the roof near web cam.
I will recommend they get some more web cams set up for next year. ;)
-
Good idea, a wide angle cam from across the road set on a higher level to the nesting box. Then you'd get a view of them running up and down that ledge, which is very comical seen on the current cam.
Not sure what they were eating last night but it was an enormous carcass, much bigger than a pigeon, I just wonder if the adults managed to find a rabbit.
-
Any sightings ,they are never at home when I look.
-
I saw just one of the young, in the early hours of this morning. :)
-
I have up-dated the url as they have got some new camera's as stated on our local TV the other day. :)

We have Four nice chicks :clap2:
I checked at around 1500 hours this afternoon and Mrs Falcon just seemed to be a bit fidgety on the eggs. That explains things. She could either hear or feel movement "from within".
 :congrats:

We have Four nice chicks :clap2:
Lovely! :)
-
It's feeding time if you're quick......4 hungry chicks
-
The sad news that the bad weather has taken two of the chicks over the week end.
-
That is sad :(
-
Oh . . . :'(
Whenever I checked, at the weekend, Mrs Falcon had her back to the weather and the chicks under her "wing-tent" and breast.
:(
-
We had very heavy rain all Sunday, I looked at the web cams about three times during the day and in the evening I noted both Derby and Nottingham birds looking like this http://ntufalcons.files.wordpress.com/2012/04/wetmommafalcon.jpg
http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-FfNLq3Y44D4/T51nOxDjzSI/AAAAAAAABe4/lGIGOAYcDwk/s1600/20120429_16-12-31.jpg
and feared the worse.

Down to one now.
-
What a shame. :(
But that is normal "out in the wild". The only difference here is that we are able to watch . . .
