Post by: tuftedduck on January 27, 2011, 01:44:58 PM
New update released today...version 11.01 build 1190

This is a recommended security update....I have updated without problem, and all prefs. preserved correctly. :)

Thanks TD - mine did an auto-update yesterday to build 1190.  It all happened so quickly I didn't properly see it happen but your message explains for me why I  briefly saw the Opera mini screen yesterday when I started Opera up!  :)

Good onyer both....

The update did do a curious thing for me........when I shut down the updated browser there were four extra Opera desktop shortcuts on the desktop...which refused to be deleted...."access denied"........however, the next time I opened/closed Opera, there were only three.....and so forth until they had all disappeared.

Odd.... ??? .......but no harm done and it is working like a dream.

Jazz, if you do not want your experience to happen again, tools>preferences>advanced>security and set the update mode to your chosen option such as "notify me of available update" or "do not look for updates".............then you won't be caught by surprise.. ;D

Thanks TD - just done that.  I prefer not to have "auto updates" just in case there is a problem one released.  If I am notified of an update I usually download it once I've checked it out.  I also use Secunia PSI to check my software once a week and notify me of any missing patches or updates.  :)

Wish they'd do an Opera update for the Nintendo Wii. The current version is not very good.
I set up streaming video from my PC to the Wii + TV, but it's let down by the ancient version of Flash supported by Opera on the Wii - doesn't support mp4 only flv.

Cheers,
Peter
