Title: Re: Analysing DMT data (for 22point8)
Post by: 22point8 on January 23, 2011, 04:51:10 PM
Hi, can someone analyse my DMT graph please? I'm using a D-Link 2640B, and theres a dip near the beginning of the blue part of the graph, I've noticed the dip moves further to the right the higher the sync. The same dip appears on the O2 Box II. For some reason the O2 box syncs higher (about 200kb) and reports lower attenuations downstream 48.5 G.dmt & ADSL2, and 52.0 on ADSL2+. The D-Link is 51.0 for G.dmt & ADSL2 and 55.0 for ADSL2+. The Sync on G.dmt is always 3808 on the D-link and 3807 on the O2 box. Recently my speed on the O2 box seems stuck at 5771kb. Just wondering if I have any issues.

Hello 22point8, I have split your new question onto it's own thread just to keep things tidy.  :)

Looks absolutely fine to me. The 'dips' are where there's not enough SNR at that particular frequency to load any 'Bits' into that particular 'Bin'. It's
nothing major at all.

Regarding your other router. Different routers have different in-built resistances (attenuation). Therefore the ones with the least attenuation will synchronise at a higher speed.

I use 2640Bs (got 4 of them ;) ) and that looks bob-on from 3.5 yrs of line monitoring with mine. Nowt to worry about there  ;D

Just for reference, mine looks like this on ADSL2+
