Title: Copy video files.
Post by: ralphw on August 12, 2007, 07:26:39 PM
I want to send some video files (avi) to a friend  but Windows will not copy to a DVD. It will copy to an ordinary CD but since I have about 12 files totalling about 4Gb the normal 700 Mb CD is not really an option. Any ideas or suggestions please.
Sorry if this is in the wrong section, could not decide where else it shoud be.

I did a google search on burning avi files to DVD, there's plenty of results to look through Ralph:

http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q=Burning+avi+files+to+DVD&btnG=Search&meta=

Here's a few promising places to look at:

I've had a look at those links but it's not what I really what I am after. I want to keep the file as avi like it does when saving to an ordinary CD, and not convert it to DVD.

I guess you need a different burning program then. I don't use Windows myself, but there must be several programs which can burn DVDs.

But what puzzles me is why I cannot just drag and drop like I do with an ordinary CD?

Nero includes an option to make a data DVD. You should be able to just write the files to DVD in the same way as to CD. Avoid the options to create a music/video etc DVD, instead go for writing a data disk.

Thanks Dave I'll have a look at that...

hi ralph

xp dosent have built in dvd drag-n-drop facilities, but vista does.

nero incd allows packet writing so u can drag-n-drop like a cd.

u could always download the evaluation copy of nero from aheads web site then create a data disk.

Kitz, HELP.

Sorry it's of-topic but.

I placed "7z442 - RAR Extractor" (without the quotes) in a internet search and it leads me strait to this post each time. Wierd or what!

Yes okay so above the search box it says "Find a Web page containing:" but no one here has mentioned it have they?

What search engine? They do have their quirks.

Which search engine - I just did a search on google and it didnt index it - or at least on the first page.

I know its mentioned in this thread here (http://forum.kitz.co.uk/index.php/topic,778.msg24564/topicseen.html#msg24564) so I dunno why it should bring you to this one instead  ???

As far as I know it's just the standard "Windows Live Search"

I have just been trying to post a snap-shop of the search results, but am now having great difficulty getting through to PhotoBucket to be able to post it and ImageShack no longer recognises me.

The search result, which is the first item on the first page, when hovering the mouse over it, the metadata is actually word-for-word of what I wrote in the other thread with regards to this RAR extractor. "7z442"

I have just tried again after re-Ghosting my PC and the same thing still happens.
Weird or what.

Let you know the result later.

The first shot is the result of the actual search.
When clicking the first link, then the scond shot is the result.
edit: if you look at the top-right of the second picture, you will also notice it has put kitz address in the address box.

>>  it's just the standard "Windows Live Search

Live Search has just done the same for me too so its not anything youve done.
It looks like livesearch has perhaps indexed the page wrong :/

It may catch up again and correct itself at a later date after a few more bots check indexing.

Thanks Kitz,

I thought it might of been gremlins in the works reminding me that I had not shown my face for a couple of days
